TPO Board

The Triangle West TPO Board (formerly called the Transportation Advisory Committee) is the policy body that coordinates and makes decisions on transportation planning issues.

The TPO Board is comprised of elected and appointed officials from the City of Durham, the Town of Chapel Hill, the Town of Carrboro, the Town of Hillsborough, Durham County, Orange County, Chatham County, Triangle Transit, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The TPO Board also has advisory (non-voting) members from the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Transit Administration, and other local, state, or federal agencies impacting transportation (by invitation of the TPO Board).

The TPO Board is governed by a set of Bylaws, revised August 13, 2014.

Meetings of the TPO Board are normally scheduled for the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Central Pines Regional Council at 9:00 a.m. There is typically no meeting in July and December. Some meetings may be held in the evening to facilitate participation in public hearings. Check the calendar for upcoming meeting dates.

Technical Coordinating Committee

The Technical Committee (TC) provides technical recommendations to the TPO Board. Recently, the TC shortened its name from the Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC).

The TC is composed of staff members from the units of local governments, Triangle Transit Authority, Research Triangle Park, Central Pines Regional Council, Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority, North Carolina Central University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, and Carolina Trailways.

The Technical Committee is governed by a set of Bylaws adopted August 27, 2014.

Meetings of the Technical Committee occur monthly on the second Tuesday at the Central Pines Regional Council. The date and time will vary occasionally. Check the Calendar for upcoming meetings.
