The TPO identifies roadway, transit and other transportation improvements in their long-range plans. As regional transportation projects move forward, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is largely responsible for the feasibility study, environmental study, final design and construction phases. Projects that have been recently completed, i.e., constructed and in operational use, are listed below.

The NCDOT identification number, also known as the STIP (State Transportation Improvement Program) number, is included for reference. This number is often used by the Department to identify the project in their database.

  • Weaver Dairy Road, from NC 86 to Erwin Road, additional lane and some new alignment, U-3306
  • South Miami Boulevard, from Methodist Street to Bethesda Avenue, additional lane, U-4011
  • T.W. Alexander, from Cornwallis Road to NC 147, additional lanes, U-3309
