The Durham-to-Roxboro Rail Trail Feasibility Study assessed the transformation of an 18-mile inactive rail corridor within Durham County into a multi-use trail. This proposed rail trail would ultimately establish a 26-mile trail network linking downtown Durham to Roxboro in Person County. The project was a collaborative effort led by five key organizations: Durham County, the City of Durham, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, the East Coast Greenway Alliance, and Triangle West. The plan can be viewed here. This study was programmed in Triangle West TPO’s FY25 Unified Planning Work Program.
