ArcGIS Online® (AGOL, ArcGIS.com)
A cloud computing platform provided by ESRI. This product provides tools to generate interactive web map and applications that can be shared with multitude of users using various mobile, desktop, browsers platforms. DCHC MPOArcGIS Online can be found at MPO ArcGIS Online
ArcGIS ExplorerDesktop®
A free GIS Desktop Viewer for users who do not have ArcGIS applications installed. Users can use it to view GIS Data.
Google Maps®
Used by DCHC MPO on our website as a complementary system for mapping. It can be used free and supports maps embedded on third party websites via the Google Maps API.
ArcGIS for Desktop/ArcMap®
Desktop tool used for map creation and geospatial data analysis. ArcMap is used to make professional quality cartographic maps and to analyze, and visualize data using various data manipulation, conversion and other tools.
ArcGIS for Desktop/ArcCatalog®
Explorer type interface that allows administrators to manage GIS data and its storage. Data can be created, loaded, removed in this environment. ArcCatalog can be used to retrieve external data, to manage services including the generation of geocoding and other services. DCHC MPO uses it to manage data and services.
ArcGIS for Desktop/ArcToolbox®
Contains tools used by ArcMap and ArcCatalog for data modeling that includes conversion, spatial projection and spatial data analysis.
CommunityViz®
Software is used with ArcGIS to promote collaborative decision making activities in workshop settings. It is used to show future city and regional planning models.
UrbanSim®
Smulation system used to support planning and analysis of urban development, incorporating the interactions between land use, transportation, the economy and the environment. It is used for land use planning during preliminary transportation planning workups.
UrbanCanvas®
Visualization and analysis tool used during early stage prototyping to allow users and stakeholders to engage in the planning and design process during critical planning stages.
TransCAD®
Geographic Information System (GIS) specifically designed for use by transportation professionals. It combines GIS and transportation modelling capabilities into one integrated platform and is used to model all modes of transportation. It uses special extensions for transportation mapping, visualisation and analysis tools. DCHC MPO uses this application for route planning, travel demand forecasting, public transit planning, logistics, site location and territory management in collaboration with CAMPO and ITRE to develop a triangle regional transportation model for the Research Triangle Area.
MS2®
Cloud-based application to manage diverse traffic data. As a web-based transportation data management system, it can manage many different data types and provide interactive gis maps and reporting options.
