Triangle West Draft Regional Safety Action Plan is ready for YOUR review

Triangle West has been working closely with community members and transportation safety experts over the past year to review crash trends, data about our transportation network, and listening to people’s experiences with safety while walking, riding, and driving around our region. We have put together a draft Regional Safety Action Plan to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries by making our streets safer for everyone.

How will my feedback be used?

Your comments on the action items, important corridors and intersections, and future safety investments will help shape the final plan.

What should I know about the Regional Safety Action Plan?

Every year, people in our region lose family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues to traffic crashes on our roads—crashes that could be prevented. Last year, 174 people were killed or seriously injured on the roadways in the Triangle West region. The Regional Safety Action Plan is grounded in a Safe Systems Approach. This approach aims to eliminate severe injury crashes by anticipating human mistakes and keeping impacts on the human body at tolerable levels. The Regional Safety Action Plan recommends projects, policies, and programs to eliminate fatal and serious injury crashes on our streets and set up opportunities for future funding.
