To support transportation planning in the Triangle region and enhance the Triangle Regional Model (TRM), the Household Travel Survey (HTS) has been conducted regularly across the region since 2018. Prior to that, surveys were completed in 1995, 2006, and 2016. After the 2016 effort, the survey became a recurring biennial effort beginning in 2018. Data collection was delayed in 2020 due to COVID-19 and resumed in spring 2021, followed by subsequent rounds in 2023 and 2025.
